Sexual politics

OLEANNA, David Mamet's acclaimed dissection of sexual power games and political correctness comes to the Courtyard Arts Centre, Hereford, next week. Mamet tempts the audience to take sides in a battle for supremacy between a college professor and his female student, while exploring the nature of language, how we communicate and how we educate. The flag in the village flew at half-mast and prayers were said at the service of Holy Communion held on Easter Sunday, when the congregation filled the church. The traditional joy of Easter was overcast by the death of the Queen Mother and the singing of the hymns lacked their usual jubilation.
