TEAMS battled it out on water-drenched obstacle courses - assisted by a sprinkling of summer showers - to raise funds for a new children's hospice.
The Acorns Trust It's a Knockout competition took place at Worcester Rugby Club yesterday, with fun and mayhem in equal measures.
The event started at midday and ended with an awards ceremony for the winning team and the top fund-raisers on the day, at around 4pm.
A bar was open throughout the afternoon and the refreshments and range of events on display ensured spectators and supporters were kept entertained.
"It went really well and there was lots of noise, lots of fun and lots of foam!" said area fund-raiser Fran Winterbourn.
"It looks as though we will have raised more than £5,000 from the day, which is fantastic."
The team-building afternoon, which saw groups negotiating their way around a saturated obstacle course, proved a hit with thrill-seeking entrants but had a serious side.
"Obviously it was great that people had a fun time, and enjoyed a day out with their friends and family, but the vital thing was to raise funds for the hospice so it was really successful," said Mrs Winterbourn.
All the money from the event went to the Acorns Children's Hospice Trust Three Counties Appeal to build a facility in Worcester to care for 250 children with life-limiting conditions.
The organisation largely relies on charitable donations to enable it to continue its vital work with families in the West Midlands.
Each team raised a minimum sponsorship of £500 to take part yesterday, and the eight games were each sponsored for £250, to help Acorns reach their fund-raising target.
